bluebeard being an archetype from her book ‘the sadeian woman’ puzzled me a bit, because he seemed so anti sade and i thought that book was an ode to him (which put me off, yes), but instead it reminded me of dworkin and her interpretation of sadism (that she shared in her essay about the bronte sisters: male dominance and sadism being built through physical and psychological abuse and humiliation by other men.)

said all that, i'm a bit obsessed with her writing style, i'm digging it so much, and just like i imagined, del toro needs to stop fucking around and make his own beauty and the beast adaptation very angela carter esque

i became wary of her for being one of those feminists who likes sade (i will never understand this trend among feminists), but after listening to a podcast about this book + contrapoints twilight essay + dworkin, i'm so interesting in how women adore a fascist the boot in the face the brute etc., sometimes even if unintentionally women write amazing analysis of sexuality under patriarchy (i need to reread jane eyre)
