He accepted his drink from the saloon girl, trying to remember if he’d slept with her. She sure acted like he had, but he couldn’t think about that right now.

Please don't tell me this is supposed to be our sympathetic male lead. No...

Someone help me. 1) Would a man's shirt in 1870 have buttons down the front or were they still using studs? 2) 1870 New Orleans. Buy a ticket on a train to California and leave the next morning?

Just when I thought things were looking up, now we've got our pair on a rented horse called "Peckerhead". Gawd, the poor jokes flying over that one :/

Lottie gets her first poker lesson.

Perhaps she needed to explain things a little more slowly. He seemed to be having trouble keeping up. “You see, a king and a queen rule a country, so it makes sense they would be powerful cards, but there’s no such thing as a jack, is there? Shouldn’t that card be a duke card?”

Sounds like my kind of hero! :D

Misfit This is the image that has stuck in my head and won't let go.

Misfit There sure are enough comedic side kicks in this one. I hadn't realized it was one of those funny haha type of romances. Or is it unintentionally funny?

In my experience, funny haha romance novels make excellent fireplace filler.

This is why I can't stand to watch rom coms. The old screwball comedies, fine. They had great scripts (My Favorite Wife, His Girl Friday, Ball of Fire, The Lady Eve, the list goes on and on....) But the newer ones are so trite and dull.

Misfit Fireplace filler is a good idea.
