It SERIOUSLY pisses me off to pick up a book labeled number one and have it make no sense. If you insist on including prequels (especialy novel length ones) they really shouldn't be such that the next book depends on them to make sense. Otherwise it's not a prequel, it's FUCKING BOOK ONE itself. Which makes what I'm reading book two, despite what it's labeled. Pissed off reader, right here.

Why can't 'book one' mean first book anymore? Why does everything need a prequel or be a spin-off of a longer series, such that you can't trust what it's actually labeled? I am losing faith in publishers to be even remotely honest with me, a reader.
