Hm ... it's not that the book's writing is bad, it's actually quite accomplished, but while the technique is fine, I can't really relate. The characters all seem very distant to me and from each other too. There's no urgency to the action even in perilous situations and while the characters interact often, all the interactions have a rather superficial feel to them.

A quicker read than I thought, but also less compulsive. I wish the author had worked more on her visible potential.
