Felipe Arraño Quest for Order - John Tierney writes this profile of Indian astrophysicist Subramanyan Chandrasekhar (1910-1995) (p. 605). His theory, of any star more than 1.4 time as massive as the sun would cause a collapse beyond the white dwarf stage and become a black hole, was refused by Eddington in the Royal Astronomical Society meeting in 1935, affecting this field of research; later on is was found the theory was correct (pp. 606-607).
