OK, def recognize that sharing of hope (particularly with the Lexington City Council race!)

Texas and Indiana chapters are a great balance of getting real about things and also celebrating queer folks in red states, but I feel like Tennessee is a return to form for the false dichotomy Allen makes between the coasts and Middle America.

OK, this is *so good* when it *actually focuses* on red state havens rather than talking down to people in other parts of America. Why can't we have more of that?

Not really liking Allen's takes on blue state cities. They come across as snide and uncurious, & you can build queer communities in red states up w/o tearing ones in blue states down. As someone from a red area in a blue state, I love my ride-or-die community in my home county, but I'm hoping this whole general trend dissipates from the rest of the book, because I also love the people I've met in blue cities as well.

Okay, Ms, Allen, I too want the "Stay in San Antonio and fight" option to be pursuable (and for many it is) but some of this feels a bit too much like romanticization.
