On the Beach - Andrew Hodges (1949-) writes this excerpt of Alan Turing (p. 629). Turing and Murray both pleaded “guilty” to all charges when prosecuted under England’s antihomosexual statutes (pp. 631-632). Turing chose “thinking” (treatment to continue his work) over “feeling” (his sexual orientation) (p. 634). The probation period, of 1 year, finished in April 1953 (p. 643). Turing killed himself on June 1954, which came as a shock to those who knew him (p. 645).
