The protagonist of this story is Rachel. She is a divorced woman who is hard working and intelligent. She loves to take the train and think about her past. Rachel is curious what the future holds for her and hopes she finds someone she can love and trust. Little does she know her future doesn't hold rainbows and a happily ever after, but true darkness and mystery.
