I'm losing steam. I don't want to accept defeat; but this one may just be too smart for me afterall.

Why isn't Fyodor dead yet? Why did we have 50 pages describing a monk's life and belief system? Why are they just sitting around, playing cards, talking about Nikolai Gogol?! What does any of this have to do with anything?! What am I missing here?

Only 10% of the way through but I'm gonna be real disappointed if it isn't Smerdyakov that kills Fyodor.
