Again. Another author who does not reconcile their faith and their sexual identity. But instead walks away from their faith entirely because they recognize how incompatible it is with an image of a wholly benevolent, loving, and omniscient god. Hmm.

God is somewhere in the midst of understanding we must move in unity, and honor the individuality we each possess. The work of God is meant to be confusing and befuddling, and always driven toward a greater and freer justice for all marginalized groups

“Love is poor when kept between two people.”

This section spoke of the importance of the queer identity to find strength and love in community. And use that action to fight for the voiceless and powerless, including the environment. And how in its own way this is manifest of gods love for us all. (Not a reconciliation of faith but and active use of it).

The lamentations section does address the underpinnings of belonging and acceptance in the church; however it is not about how these individuals had to reconcile themselves to their faith to make it all fit, rather, it is about how they in many ways endure the pain of stigma for being wholly themselves, and even the pain of persecution for authenticity.

Again, another Christian author; however, their lamentation was over the need for society to function in a binary system which obscures the message of love god presents in a plurality of religious groups, and how the spirit exists beyond the binary system, since it is in essence an ephemeral entity devoid of physicality and by circumstance gender or sex.

I don’t understand a lot of the reviews of this book are fixated on how “the authors are just talking about how they are able to make peace with their Christian identities.” And literally every one of the authors in the first section actually doesn’t do that.

Two actually take quite and issue with how Christianity in a modern context doesn’t align and should be changed. One talks about spiritual pluralism
