The anthropomorphic elements are too weird for me. I’ve never encountered anything like this in any book, and it makes the story feel downright silly. I’m almost halfway through, and the plot still hasn’t taken shape. Nothing about it feels interesting or funny enough to hold my attention, and I’m seriously considering DNFing it.
