A Man of Science: Abdus Salam - Nigel Calder, British science writer for the BBC, wrote this profile of Salam (1926-1996), Pakistani physicist and Nobel Prize winner for his work on unified theory, in 1997 (p. 665). Salam provided a proof that resolved the absurdity of an electron having an infinite mass and an infinite electric charge (p. 667). Salam worked in developing the unitary symmetry (p. 668).
