Lindsay is finished
Well, fortune cookies were just independently invented in this book. Also, the world combines a fantasy stand-on of China (complete with the same language as Mandarin!) with generic western fantasy world. I think if you never had read fantasy this might be for you. If I had known it was being marketed as in the same genre as Legends and Lattes I wouldn't have started it; as it is it's unlikely I'll finish it.

Hirondelle (not getting notifications) Ouch. But that is good to know, this book seems to be everywhere, and I was wondering...

Lindsay @Hirondelle I do think it’s a bit deeper than Legends and Lattes, but the world building is pretty basic. Like I said, when the inept baker character had an idea for putting little pieces of paper into folded up cookies, I just couldn’t anymore. Probably one of the more rounded cozy fantasy books, but it’s just not my genre.

Hirondelle (not getting notifications) Not having read the book I still know precisely what you mean....

Lindsay Later I saw that many 2-and 3-star review writers thought it should have been marketed as a middle-grade book. Also tells you a lot! Glad she’s having success with it I guess!
