"If our passage through the year is grounded in a time beyond time, then the annual cycles we process through will not be cycles of horrifying and alienating samsara, but cycles that ground us ever more deeply in the peace of eternal things. Less the circling of a prisoner about the limits of a cell, and more the repeated motions of a dance."

"If the Lord is an annual gardener now, husbanding the wheat and the tares alike, in that last day his work becomes more like forestry, tending a garden no longer subject to the disruptions of sin and death. Planted in seed imperishable, we will go on perennially, old-growth forest of souls."

"God prepares a garden for human beings to live in, a place of cultivation, something made. And Christ emerges from the tomb, a firstfruit of new creation, into a cultivated place as well.
Creation is a work of God, resurrection is the same, and so Scripture depicts these works in a place shaped by the attention of a gardener rather than some site absent human purposes."

I'm not sure how I've never come across a book combining the seasons of the garden with the seasons of the church calendar, but here it is. (Also, yours truly is unexpectedly in the acknowledgements... a first. lol)
