an interesting chapter focusing on ellies fascination with a beehive owned by an illegal immigrant amir.
the depictions of the bees are vivid and fascinating, although james bradley needs to stop introducing random and irrelevant characters

constant shift in perspective makes it slightly confusing to follow as well as the constant drastic shift in time.

once again the theme of loss and absence comes back and concludes the ‘clade’ chapter.
after maddie lost tom and declan, there is a feeling of emptiness and dread.
also vague idea of what adam is doing like where did bro go

pretty interesting, i like how it balances between the interpersonal relationships and the connections of loss in multiple forms and also loss in environment. an overwhelming feeling of impending doom looming over their relationship, and also the climate situation. a constant sense of unease and uncertainty.
although i find it difficult to understand whose perspective its on.
