While it's true that (after only reading the Mistborn trilogy) it's painfully clear that this was Sanderson's first published work, I overestimated this statement and I find myself enveloped by the world in Elantris and connected to its characters, something some veteran authors don't achieve.
Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but I can see traces of what he will do later with Mistborn laying here and there
