Finished the first novels in this collection: THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE (1934) is a noir classic, with a drifter falling for a married woman while working for her husband. It’s been adapted to film twice. With Lana Turner in 1946 and with Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange in 1981 — THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON’T THEY? (1935) Is a psychological thriller set during a dance marathon. The 1969 film stars Jane Fonda.
