If I have to read Matt Dunn being misogynistic in this book one more goddamn time…
He is making half of his characters fatphobic, or ageist. They’re vile for the most part. And it’s so unnecessary. It’s not like they’re MEANT to be like that, but Matt dots in these nasty lines throughout. Julie mocking Mary’s weight in her head just cos Mary made a lemon tea for example.

I read a bit of this on a journey home. Some characters are introduced in a delightful way where I’m definitely going to root for them, but one of them is a guy who has been lying about his appearance on dating apps but then is super sexist about women who do less lying than him. And I think the book portrays this in a way where we’re meant to think it’s funny? I don’t know.
