Reading a good book by a great author serves to highlight the big differences between the great and the merely ordinary. Not much happens from a plot perspective, but the author’s choices in detailing the setting and illustrating the character without any exposition is impressive. And the execution in terms of tightness of writing, developing a voice for the character - in terms of language and point of view.
