This author is like most scientist authors writing science fiction in a book he calls science. When he said We don't know which stars were near us when the solar system formed he's (likely) wrong (unless you assume we don't Know anything for certain, including big bangs, dark matter and whether atoms are from super Nova). Observation would make their Theories much better.... to bad there's None.
