So sad reading about the loss of life through "friendly" fire. Most times through lack of communication between the different services but sometimes through the careless handling of vital information. In the instance I just read about a clerk filed the critical information about a PT's location in the wrong basket.

Awesome, just read about JFK. His PT boat was cut in half when it was rammed by a Japanese destroyer and he and the other survivors had to swim 3 1/2 miles to a desert island. For 4 hours JFK was towing a life preserver with a badly burned shipmate. They were found by native scouts and JFK was taken by canoe to a coast-watcher's station and where he boarded a rescue PT and returned for his shipmates.

Slow going, but it's interesting.
