Derek was just honestly going through the motions as he parked his car, got out, headed into the building, and went through security. He only broke out of his semi daze when he realized the woman behind the counter wasn’t Agent Dove.

“You’re not going to let this go until I beat the cotton candy out of these clowns, now are you?” Lever asked, shaking his head as he already started his warm ups. “Very well, I’ll indulge you this once.” 

“Yeah, of course, let me pour out my heart and tell you my deepest, darkest secrets too,” Lever said, placing his hand over his chest as he leaned back against his seat while his other hand remained resting on the gun. “I’m Joe King. Now, tell me again what it is you do?"

A laugh escaped he before he could even bother to try and stop himself. There was only one reason his little baby cous would have been the one to send people out here for clean up.

Peter ignored the way his stomach squirmed as he stared straight back at the man. “There was never anything you could have done. I’d already given the order. So, maybe you should stop sitting there moping.”

In all honesty, Lever could probably do this in his sleep. But maybe that just said something about a Deadlock’s unhealthy sleeping habits than it did his skill level of defensive driving.

The next second, Lever spun around and punched the wall beside him, his fist instantly going through the drywall as pain shot through his hand. Gah! Maybe he shouldn’t have used the same fist he’d used to punch a concrete wall.

There seriously had to be something wrong with these sandwiches that they could sit in the fridge for weeks on end and not even grow moldy. If mold didn’t want it, did Lever really want to eat it?

Part of Lever almost wanted him to make the first move and hit him. It would be very therapeutic.
