The Sign of the Four:
Long-hidden and much sought-after treasure, murders, and the thrill of the chase all feature in the second SH novel
Oh, and by the end of it, our narrator - Watson, is engaged!
An enjoyable, if at times protracted tale, I am continuing as a fan of ACD's writing style as we move into The Hound of the Baskervilles

A Study in Scarlet:
The first outing for Watson and Holmes, told as reminiscences by Watson through his journal, as well as of those from the murder themselves
Taken from Holmes' view that life is, in general, uninteresting and that acts of murder add excitement and colour to it
I really enjoyed both parts to the story, finding it imaginative, well-paced, and brilliantly written with artistic turns of phrase

This has been sat on a shelf in my bookcase for over 10yrs!!! It’s such a beautiful edition, but chuffin’’eck, it makes for a cumbersome read! I’m already thoroughly enjoying it, which hopefully bodes well 😊
