I’ve figured it out. McCarthy’s prose is so weird because he doesn’t ever write from a character’s perspective. You never know what a character is thinking, you have to let their actions speak for themselves

I like the formula this book is following, but McCarthy’s prose is certainly difficult to follow. I’ve never read anything like it, and I can’t make my mind up if I like it
