When arguing, the natural thing is to reinstate your pov until the other person sees the issue the way you do. The more interesting thing to do is to ask, ‘Why, at heart, do we disagree? What is the values disagreement underneath? When you do so, you are looking for moral/philosophical roots. You’re engaged in mutual exploration. Being curious about your friends experience is more important than being right.
