At the beginning I struggled to like the protagonists because everyone seemed to be so superficial and egoistic. I still feel a bit like this about Frank (male protagonist), especially because of his alcohol consumption. But I really like the stories and how each chapter tells a different episode, sometimes contributing to the main story, sometimes things that happen to other characters in the book.
