done w part I: the sword in the stone

wart had a total disney princess moment there like even the fuckign fish was helping him pull that sword out

on a more serious note: the best parts came in the later half when wart has his "eddication"; his boyish dreams of dying gloriously in war are brought to question by his teachers, and he learns abt what it takes to be a king even tho he doesn’t know it yet

also ive very much underestimated how friggin long this book is. at the rate im going, i’m lucky if i finish it by october

dont u just hate when ure just a kid and ur wizard mentor turns u into a fish and he takes u to some large eldritch horror ayungin who spouts vague shit to u abt power and tyranny

"unfortunately, i was born at the wrong end of time, and i have to live backwards from in front, surrounded by a lot of people living forwards from behind." this is interesting bc this provides merlyn with an unusual and very useful power but it gives him a heavy limitation bc while he knows what happens, he doesnt know how they come to be MAN that is so cool
