This is an incredible read. Not knowing anything about Griffin Dunne, I started reading this book with an open mind and have been blown away by the quality of writing about intriguing life stories. In addition to his unique upbringing in Beverly Hills, I am now reading about Griffin Dunne’s friendship with actress Carrie Fisher from adolescence.

Andrea This is an incredible read. Not knowing anything about Griffin Dunne, I was blown away by its intriguing life stories growing up in Beverley Hills knowing celebrities, authors, and artists, including a unique friendship with Carrie Fisher from adolescence. My favourite story in the book has to do with Wonder Bread, and it made me laugh out loud at the antics of two boys staying at a mansion in the wrath of an abusive stepfather. I also enjoyed learning about Griffin Dunne’s experiences as a werewolf while making « An American Werewolf in London » while his younger sister Dominique was filming « Poltergeist ». Reading about the tragedy of losing his sister when he Rex-boyfriend strangled her was horrific, and I could feel the pain of the family in the aftermath of a mishandled court trial that resulted in the murderer only being prison for two and a half years. The only criticism I had was the disappearance of Carrie Fisher in the narrative. Did their friendship dissolve? Were they friends until her death?
