Paine hates the Old Testament because it is cruel and obscene. (note to me to read the Testament.)
The Word of God cannot be written as humans are fallible and it is given that things get messed up in translation. Gods word should not be altered. His word comes from perception.

Again, we must believe the existence of Jesus through the word of people. And the people who were descended from those who would have witnessed it claim it is false. And Jesus is supposed to be God in man form and yet he is supernatural simultaneously.
