To get a goshawk to trust you: give it as many opportunities to kill as possible. You know what you are with a gos.

I loved the description of the hawks when she first sighted them, specifically the way the author explained them dancing and how they were “mobbed by crows” but didn’t mind at all. There’s also an important lesson on patience and the author explains how as a child it felt like a lecture. Helen does a great job of allowing the reader to connect with her on a personal level, I understand how she feels.
