it always irks me when the hate/remorse fades away too quickly in enemies to lovers stories, especially when dealing with "unforgivable" acts... i really hope mark isn't already at a stage where a more prominent hate/remorse/hurt won't comeback anymore - the book will truly be lacking if that's the case.
