“You think so? I’ve never created a riot before. I did cause a brawl at the last formal. A large number of young women there actually arrived with the expectation of seducing me into matrimony, and a couple of their mothers came to blows. It was hilari— I mean, dreadful. Simply dreadful.”
“Yes.” Rose sighed in mock pity. “It’s awful to be rich and mind-bogglingly handsome

“Do you like him?” she asked when Rose fell silent.
“Why would you even ask me that? I—”
“Rose! Do you like him?”
“A little,” Rose said. “Just a little.”
Grandma sighed.
“Most of the time, I want to strangle him,” Rose added to ease her fears.
For some odd reason, her attempt to reassure Grandma actually made things worse. Éléonore’s face paled. “Que Dieu nous aide.”

“What are you doing here?” she hissed.
“Perhaps I missed the sight of your lovely body,” he said.
“What?”
Declan leaned closer. “My promise not to ravish you doesn’t extend to this fine establishment, does it? As I recall, it’s only valid under your roof. How could I pass on such an opportunity?”

Perma-smile on my face reading this

"I want you to swear that you won’t attempt to molest me.”
He looked her over very slowly. “If I chose to molest you, it wouldn’t be an attempt. And you would be most enthusiastic about it.”
Rose felt heat rise to her cheeks. “On second thought, I’m not sure that my house is big enough to contain you and your ego. Few places are. Promise or sleep outside.”

Hehe. ..most enthusiastic

"If I wish it, you’ll marry me. Shooting me, running me over with a vehicle, or trying to sour my disposition will do nothing to help your cause.”
...“I’ll fight you to the end,” she promised. “You’ll have to kill me.” She jerked her crossbow up, sighting his chest.
“I have no intention to hurt you. Go ahead and fire,” he said. “I won’t count it against you—it will save me some breath.”
She shot him.

Jack’s face pinched into a rigid white mask—he was about to cry.
A small spark of power tugged on her. “Georgie, stop trying to resurrect the shoes. They were never alive in the first place.”

It doesn't sound romantic out of context but it totally is a great line in the book...possible my favorite.

“Georgie isn’t anemic,” Jack said. “He would be okay except for Grandpa. Grandpa and all the animals are making him sick.”
“Grandpa?” Declan raised his eyebrows.
“We keep him in the shed out back,” Jack said helpfully. “So he doesn’t eat dog brains.”

Lol...Jack you are utterly adorable. I love little Jack.
