I just learned that in Julius Ceasers will, he gave every Roman citizen 300 pieces of silver from his fortune!?! I looked it up, it is real!
"There we were shown a copy of Caesar's will which named Octavius his son and legatee, and gave his gardens to the people for their recreation and to every citizen of Rome three hundred pieces of silver from his fortune" (Agustus, pg. 48)
Also the vocabulary is amazing!!

"To run in the dark against a timid opponent may win you the race; but it is as likely to plunge you over a cliff you cannot see, or lead you to a mark you do not wish to find" (Agustus, Page 42).

Starting this book as a read along in a classics group! Accidentally started a biography of Agustus too, so it looks like I will be learning a lot about that time period. Though, this Agustus book is based in fiction!
"Williams held to the belief that to read anything without joy or pleasure was stupid, that a novel or poem was there to be experienced rather than to be understood or explicated." (Agustus, page 10).
