An interesting thing to note about reading War And Peace is that so far, it has been entirely constructed of conversations. Comparing it to The Picture Of Dorian Gray, which I am also currently reading, which is full of these lyrical and beautiful descriptions of the characters' surroundings, War and Peace is so far a character work rather than a descriptive work...

Really? That would explain it, I've never read a classic that was more conversation than description!
