I'm usually really picky with my historical fiction. I dislike when modern values are imposed onto characters that historically probably never felt that way. Our modern thoughts that we take for granted are built upon a foundation of previous thoughts that society held. Pushing boundaries means pushing one at a time. It's impossible for even us to leap into 2035's pov. The author handles it perfectly.
