So good.

I didn’t expect this book to be so rich with the gospel. I am super encouraged by it and thankful for men like Machen who have taken up the Sword to guard the good deposit!!!

God is answering my prayer - I don’t want to read theology and be lifeless to it, but I want God to use what I read (even defenses against liberal theology) to stir my affections & devotion for Jesus.

“‘Christ died’—that is history; ‘Christ died for our sins’—that is doctrine. Without these two elements, joined in an absolutely indissoluble union, there is no Christianity” (p. 24)

Also, Machen’s favorite word has gotta be “stupendous”. Bro uses it five times a page and it’s got me wanting to add it to my regular vocabulary.
