My goodness! Those Vikings were quite the philandering types, according to this book, anyway. (The author apparently did a lot of research for this story.) Between each and every event is a husband wanting another man’s wife or a wife trying not to think about the man who is not her husband.😬

This is one of those books that is weirdly captivating. I don’t love the writing style, but the author does create a gritty and somber almost-gothic vibe. It certainly has me turning pages.

I found it captivating, but definitely not an easy read. She doesn’t shy away from the grittiness of the Viking life nor the danger the women lived in constant fear of.🥺
