I’m not sure I’ll read anymore. They’re interesting enough but the attitudes of people from Victorian times are frustrating enough that they turn me off reading more.
Not reporting the assault because they couldn’t prove that it was a deliberate attempt on her life was just bollocks. They could still have reported the assault. That brought the book down in my eyes. Knowing the bad guy early as well.

The way men treat women, even when they’re not their wives, is irritating. I know it was the norm but I don’t know how many more Victorian era novels I can make myself read.

I know this is Victorian and the behaviour is probably accurate but, I’m so sick of reading about how men control women and Nate is one of them.

This book is quite long. Feels like I’ve been reading it for a long time.
