Mary Soon Lee Probably not. Occasionally, I wonder about writing a prequel set hundreds of years before "The Sign of the Dragon," but that is also unlikely to happen. [Thank you for the question!]

Replying -- very late -- to an old Goodreads question about summer reading, the three books that I had most fun reading this summer were:

- Salvage Right, the newest entry in the wonderful Liaden Universe by Sharon Lee + Steve Miller. This delighted me.
- Bonds of Brass, a frothy summer cocktail with much yearning.
- The Emperor's Wolves, a spin-off volume from the Chronicles of Elantra that centers on one of my favorite characters, Severn.
Mary Soon Lee Alec and Seregil from Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner series. The relationship between them is wonderful. They are very different people, yet fit together. They come to like and trust each other, and, in time, to be lovers without a whole series of forced misunderstandings and artificial obstacles. Plus, I have a soft spot for gay partnerships.

I note that my favorite non-romantic fictional friendship between two characters is that between Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin in Patrick O'Brian's superb Napoleonic-era naval series.
Mary Soon Lee When I first started writing, back in the Middle Ages, I wrote science fiction and fantasy short stories. After my second child was born, I switched to writing poetry, because it was easier to fit into my limited free time. Most of the poems were mainstream ones. Three years ago, I wrote a few fantasy poems instead and found it exhilarating. One of the poems, a poem about a boy and a dragon, captured me. I wrote more and more and more poems about the boy. A week ago, I finished the first draft of King Xau's story, "The Sign of the Dragon," an epic fantasy in verse.

The epic is now over three hundred poems long. The first sixty-one of these were published last year as Crowned: The Sign of the Dragon, Book 1.
Mary Soon Lee After nearly three years, I have just completed the first draft of "The Sign of the Dragon," my epic fantasy in verse. All told, the book is about 95,000 words long and currently contains 329 poems. I have never worked so hard on anything else I've written, nor cared about it as much.

N.B. The first sixty-one poems were published last year as Crowned: The Sign of the Dragon, Book 1.
