I just rest sometimes. I have more ideas than I can get to. All that I have to do is read the Bible, or engage something interesting in politics or the movies, and desire arises, and I have to work at fulfilling the vision of it.

It develops ones inner life and for me love to the Lord. It helps exercise the heart and mind so that we know we are always learning where we stand or what we need to learn. I have a good balance with other parts of life, but it is the inner life that determines our eternal life and that is the source of greatest joy. I study the internal sense of the Word, which ‘Rethinking Redemption’ is all about.

Pay close attention to feelings of anger, inspiration, grief, love, and learn how to articulate them. It takes practice and is a very spiritual thing to do. This process keeps me in humility and in a grounded confidence from within and is a never ending source of inspiration. The biggest trap of writing and spiritual things is pride. Then it becomes the wrong motivation. Writing is a service to others. I am a pastor and at heart seek to help myself and others develop an internal relationship with the Lord from within. At the same time, I stay willing to address any and all topics boldly.

I am continually inspired to write and have more ideas then I can execute. I am writing in my blog at influxdivine.com. I am fascinated to share themes from pop culture and show how there is a spiritual or Biblical root to it. I integrate science and religion, psychology and religion, interpret movies, and political events. I read a lot when I was young, and I paid close attention to what the writers were going for in fiction and how they did it. I binge read lots of writers like D.H. Lawrence, Charlotte Bronte, Henry James, and Carl Jung and the way they evoked meaning and feeling was wonderful to me. I found from feeling one is given great resources and desire to articulate and express. In my later years, as part of writing ‘Rethinking Redemption’, I often write from inspiration from the Bible. I can’t read a few sentences of scripture without my soul lighting up like a firefly with insight and desire to share.

I first wrote about this subject for an independent study in seminary. I am a student of Swedenborg’s writing and it felt enormously compelling to be able to corroborate his revelatory claims in history. It was very exciting to find history supported his deeply spiritual and historical findings.
