P.J. Skinner I went to South America last year. I forgot my tea.
P.J. Skinner I'd go to the Sicily of Inpector Montalbano, and eat at Calogeros. I'm sure Enzo would make something fantasic for me to eat. Yum!
P.J. Skinner I'm trying to read A Little Life, but the length puts me off ploughing through it. I have read and enjoyed KD McNiven's Blood Alley which is a new departure for her, the world of the crime thriller. Mostly I've been busy working on my new book, which is a departure for me too. I think that character and story are more important than where the action takes place so I am trying my hand at some hard science fiction. More of which later.
P.J. Skinner The book I am writing is based on a three year period when I spent a lot of time in Sierra Leone. Nothing is entirely invented, except for the characters, and I am having a great time following their progress in this fascinating country. There are tricky subjects like FGM, Voodoo and Rebel violence included which I have tried to weave into an interesting tale.
P.J. Skinner It something I enjoy to do so I dont really need inspiration as such. My characters dash around doing their own thing and I am typing behind them like a dervish.
P.J. Skinner I'm working on book seven, the last in my Sam Harris Series. I'm hoping to publish before Christmas.
P.J. Skinner I am an aspiring writer so I'd say, just write and dont be discouraged. It's an end in itself and makes you happy to finish a sentence, a paragraph, a page.
P.J. Skinner I like being my own boss and my head is so full after 30 years of working in other things that its lovely to download and somewhat cathartic to invent different outcomes to incidents I would otherwise chose to forget.
P.J. Skinner I like to leave the book aside and do something else, editing, planning, gym, visiting my family. I write notes on buses. Eventually I just sit down again and start writing. I never panic. The ideas are floating around somewhere, I just wait for them to wash up on the shore
