The Major's Daughter is coming out December 5th! Just a few months to go.
If you happen to be in the area (or even if not, and you'd like to travel), we're having a launch party at Fort Reno! We're actually going to be in the general's house where our fictional Daniel, Louisa and Caroline Adams would've lived! It's not usually open to the public, but Dec. 8th, 2:00 - 4:00, I'll be there signing books and giving tours. There'll also be reenactors firing off cannons and a lot of fun things going on. It'd be awesome if you could make it!
I'm so glad you're enjoying the series, Victoria. Thanks for writing!

Yes! Actually, this book was written for the late-bloomers of the world—those of us who were awkward, nerdy, and maybe spent too much time with books to have much social acuity. Everyone feels like they’ve been under-appreciated and there were times when people didn’t take the time to notice them. This story is a salute to them.
Although Jack Hennessey was a puny bookworm in his childhood, his years in the cavalry have rounded out his character and filled out his lanky frame. The only thing he hasn’t succeeded at is forgetting the girl from back home who never took any notice of him.
Years later, when he rescues Hattie Walker after a stagecoach robbery, Jack can’t believe his luck. Now, she’ll appreciate him and give him the respect he’s always deserved. If only he hadn’t ruined both of their lives with a colossal mistake.

Donia,
I'm so glad you enjoyed Holding the Fort. The next book is Bound and Determined. It's a novella and it's available as an ebook, or in paperback in the collection "Hearts Entwined." It's already out.
After that the next long book is "The Lieutenant's Bargain" and it comes out in Dec. 2018. It's got Lieutenant Jack Hennessey and that girl from back home that broke his heart. :)
I learned a lot researching this series. If you want to read Mrs. Dyer's book, it's titled Fort Reno: Or, Picturesque Cheyenne and Arrapahoe Army Life before the Opening of Oklahoma, by Mrs. D. B. Dyer.
Thanks for writing me. Sorry it took so long to respond. I forget to check my messages here.
Love,
Regina

Hello, Ruth. The novella "Bound and Determined" is the next book and it follows Private Bradley Willis (Louisa's brother) on a trip with a retired Cavalry officer, his daughter, and a herd of camels. That book is available now as an ebook, or if you prefer paperback, it's in the collection "Hearts Entwined."
The next book (coming in Dec. 2018) is the Lieutenant's Bargain where Lieutenant Jack Hennessey stumbles across that girl from back home who broke his heart. It's so fun!

Hey, Leslie! The next book after At Love's Bidding is "Her Dearly Unintended" which is a novella about Josiah. It's already out and available as an individual ebook or in the collection "With this Ring?" in paperback.
You are right about the epilogue, though! Betsy's book is "For the Record" which comes out this December. And just for fun, "For the Record" features Joel Puckett who was the young deputy in "Caught in the Middle." So this book actually ties the two series together.

Thank you, Tammy! Great question! I usually work on the plot first, and then I try to think of what characters would be most entertaining in that situation. Then I look at the two main characters together - How would they get along? How would they drive each other crazy? - and I fine tune their personalities for maximum conflict and sparks. So each character is pretty much born for that story. But it's not that easy. It takes several drafts to polish them up so that the character traits in my mind show up on the page.
Thanks for asking!
