Alexander Hernandez You know what- that's funny b/c I never have. Now I'm thinking why not? At least for me, my mind goes blank when I ride. Sort of a hyper-focus I've been told. The flip side is I ride to clear my mind. But I can honestly say I have never gotten an idea for writing b/c of a ride. I did write a motorcycle travel book, but because I had so many photos and videos I considered it a good idea. But the idea did not happen while I was riding, only after. At the time I only thought I'll have awesome pictures.

You know what- now next time I'm riding, I'll be going nuts trying to come up with an idea and I'll blame you for that, lol. But in all honesty, my ideas just come out of nowhere. A thought came to my mind today about someone doing a complicated scheme to steal from a bank and I jotted down some notes on it. Just a thought but I expand it from there.

One more thing, I do want to write more motorcycle related fiction books. Besides, I can do "research" and have to ride to do it.

Be safe out there.
Alexander Hernandez I'm writing the sequel to Knock. Knock. It's the Devil. After that, I'm not sure if I will proceed to finalize the final book in the series (3) or write the final short read of the Bobby Be Good series. But I can tell you this, I will be writing something.
Alexander Hernandez WRITE! Write daily! Writing is no different than being a professional athlete. You have to practice and train daily. It is for that reason that I started my blog- to be able to write daily but in short spurts, compared to writing a novel where I'm trying to write no less than 1,000 words a day. A 300-500 word blog is my form of daily practice, but it also helps me focus on other aspects of writing.
Alexander Hernandez For me it is simply the joy of expanding a thought or one sentence idea into a story that takes the reader to another place and time. We all enjoy a good book or movie, and that's because during that period of time, life escapes us. We put our day and problems behind us, on the back burner so to speak. My main attraction to the practice of law was helping people with their problems and I feel with writing, I'm accomplishing the same goals but with a larger audience.
Alexander Hernandez I don't. If for whatever reason I don't feel as sharp that day and I notice I'm "dragging" to get the words flowing, then that day becomes "editing day." You will be surprised how quickly you could reach your word count total for the day just by editing. I believe this works for me because I just reprogrammed my thought process versus focusing so intently on what's next. Sometimes I may even read/edit the chapters out of order. If I'm just too tired that day for whatever reason, then there's always tomorrow. My current sequel I had a couple of days where I went "blank" and so I spent the last two days editing.

One trick that I like to do is to "slow down" my thinking (my overactive mind) when I'm going to bed, and I accomplish that by writing the next chapter in my mind. When I wake up, I feel like I'm cheating because I already know what to write.

If I'm writing and it's just one of those days where I'm struggling, I just continue writing knowing that when I edit, while lot of words well get deleted, I do pick up tidbits that I know I can use.
Alexander Hernandez Honestly, i find inspiration everywhere. I have more ideas, outlines, and notes for novels than I can finish in this lifetime. It could be as simple as reading a news story or even hearing one phrase or sentence that triggers the idea. When that happens, I make sure to write it down immediately in the notes section on my phone or even a quick memo/voice recording that I email to myself to remember to expand upon that idea.
Alexander Hernandez My latest book in Knock. Knock. It's the Devil. I have been addicted to ghost hunting shows since they first came out and have gone ghost hunting myself a few times in a group, meaning I pay for it, or with my wife when visiting St. Augustine. I always wanted to write a fiction novel focusing on the paranormal, but no ideas came to mind that would be any different than a typical haunted house story. Finally, after all these years, the idea came to me, and truthfully, I could not stop the flow of words. From beginning to end, about 67,000 words, was done in 37 days! It would be nice for that to happen again, starting NOW!!! ;) I am working on the sequel since 11/27/17.
