Some time back I witnessed, with three other people, a massive UFO in the night sky, out of which smaller craft emerged and shot off in different directions. It was the first time I'd ever seen anything like that and the speed of the smaller craft were far in advance of anything I've ever heard about, one of the them traversing the full arc of the sky in seconds. It sparked my interest in close encounters and influenced my writing. The details of that encounter are actually included in my book Aaden BlueStar: The Awakening.

Inspiration for writing comes from many sources – ideas from stories or film and even news articles can trigger ideas e.g. a documentary about an unexplained explosion in 1908 in Siberia that resembled a nuclear explosion triggered an idea about an exploding spaceship, which was the initial catalyst for the Blue Star story.

In the words of Winston Churchill, “Never, never, never … give up!”
However, do be prepared for the long run. Writing has been described as 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. The creative side is the enjoyable part - you also have to be prepared to hone it and sell it.

Finding the perfect outlet for the creative urge – transforming ideas into a unique story and watching it take on a life of its own.

When the story is flowing, stop just before you complete the sequence. When you come back to it the next day you already know where it’s going and the next sequence will likely flow from where you left off. If needed, write bullet points to remind you when you come back to it next.
Sometimes, if nothing is flowing, it’s better to leave it altogether and go do something else – when you back to it, the creative ideas often start flowing again.

I’m currently working on sequels to the Aaden BlueStar series – a trilogy.

The idea for Aaden Bluestar was inspired by the Harry Potter series, where a young boy discovers he has dormant powers. In Aaden’s case it is extra-terrestrial in origin, where he recalls past lives in another realm.
World changes reaching a critical point also influenced the story, where Aaden and his friends and family have been brought to the Earth at this time in preparation for major world changes.
