Goodreads asked David Gaughan:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

David Gaughan When the story is flowing, stop just before you complete the sequence. When you come back to it the next day you already know where it’s going and the next sequence will likely flow from where you left off. If needed, write bullet points to remind you when you come back to it next.

Sometimes, if nothing is flowing, it’s better to leave it altogether and go do something else – when you back to it, the creative ideas often start flowing again.
