The final Reforged book, Blood and Mercy (eek!) and the fourth Nel Bently Book (Heretics)!

It's a bit hard to work on both at the same time -- I'll find Alea saying "OK" or Nel adopting some of Arman's snarling mannerisms (though she has a fair amount of her own anger issues!). Listening to different music for the project helps settle my head into the proper space. Nel's soundtracks are usually rap, reggae, and blues, while Reforged is soundtracks and other sweeping instrumental music.

Hi! Just saw this now.
We have a bit of down time between the end of our work day and when we reconvene for supper. I usually take the hour or so to write. I also wake up an hour early to get some writing in before work. It does impact the amount I'm able to get done, especially when we're working 60hr weeks and I'm exhausted, but I just plan my deadlines accordingly. Traveling and meeting so many new people really helps my inspiration, though, so there's certainly a "pro" that balances out the "con."

Other than crying into a gin and tonic? I make myself feel something -- whether that's walking down memory lane, seeing a powerful film, or reading a new book. Usually the emotions are on the darker side of the spectrum, but any activity that forces me to feel all the way down to my toes is a surefire way to break writer's block.

My most recent WIP is a hard-science based thriller. Most of my inspiration came from a microbiology course I took during undergrad and also reading "The Viral Storm," by Nathan Wolfe. Viruses and the myriad organisms that we can't see are terrifying and amazing!
