Brian asked V.S. Holmes:

How do you find a good balance for writing since you work as an archaeologist. You are at dig sites for periods of time so does that give you a unique "writing spot" in which to work or does it hinder your process?

V.S. Holmes Hi! Just saw this now.
We have a bit of down time between the end of our work day and when we reconvene for supper. I usually take the hour or so to write. I also wake up an hour early to get some writing in before work. It does impact the amount I'm able to get done, especially when we're working 60hr weeks and I'm exhausted, but I just plan my deadlines accordingly. Traveling and meeting so many new people really helps my inspiration, though, so there's certainly a "pro" that balances out the "con."
