H.R. Kasper I'm working on the sequel to The Mirror, which is titled The ShadowMaster. It will be the 2nd book in the Worlds Collide series. I won't spoil it but I will say that there's new characters to meet and fantastic adventures to be had.
H.R. Kasper The best thing about being a fantasy writer is that you can make your own rules. Regret killing a character? Bring him back! Want to make flying dogs native to a certain country? By all means! The other thing I love about writing fantasy (and writing in general) is how one can get lost in a world (and if you write in 1st person, a character) that is not your own.
H.R. Kasper I used to do what Leigh does in the first chapter of The Mirror (reach out to touch a mirror, hoping there would be something besides my reflection on the other side) quite often when I was very young. That, combined with a cliffhanger writing prompt, inspired the first 300 words or so of the story. From there, it grew, until I had 3 parts and over 55,000 words!
H.R. Kasper Every story has been told before. It's the telling that really matters. Don't worry too much about whether your story is completely original. Just write, write, and write some more. If your work doesn't get a good reception at first that's okay! Keep writing!
H.R. Kasper Fortunately, I haven't had to deal with it yet. There'll be times when I'll take a break from writing to think about specifics, though. I write in short bursts, so usually I'll know how to continue the story even when I'm finished writing for the day.
