Edoardo Albert Hello, Anne! Firstly, thank you very much for your kind review of Edwin. It really does make a difference to a writer, both in terms of morale (writing can be a pretty solitary business and to read that someone has been touched by your work is a real solace) and in simple sales, reviews help a great deal.

As to your question, while it does not fit your memory entirely, could it be from the saga of Hrafnkell, Frey's Priest? There's a part in that where his favourite horse, Freymane, is killed by his enemies, who then destroy the temple to Frey that Hrafnkell built. Hearing this, Hrafnkell disavows the gods. Could it possibly be this that you remember, combined with elements of Coifi's story? You can find Hrafnkell's saga online here: https://sagadb.org/hrafnkels_saga_fre...

Let me know if you think this could be the answer. If not, I will ask some of my colleagues if they know the answer.
Edoardo Albert For sale: 1 pair of baby booties. Unused.
Edoardo Albert Middle-earth, and travel round it - with the possible exception of Mordor! - visiting as much of it as I could.
Edoardo Albert Hello, Karina. Thank you for asking! At the moment, I've got a couple of proposals for non-fiction books with publishers, but on the fiction front, I'm just about to start what I think will be a series set in the time of Alfred the Great. Only the first one has been commissioned so far, so we'll see how it goes, but I'm quite excited about it.
Edoardo Albert Next up is Night's Bright Darkness by Sally Read.
Edoardo Albert Thankfully, I am not one of those writers who have to mine their own memories for stories: if I was, my stories would be really, really boring. I use that under-appreciated faculty, the imagination, which opens up everything. So, no mysteries in my life, but plenty of imagining.
Edoardo Albert Hello, Sara. Please can you send me a direct message with your email address so we can forward the book to you. If you don't have it already it must have got lost on the way, so we'll send you another.
Edoardo Albert Hello, Sara. I'm really sorry to hear you haven't received your copy of Oswiu yet. The giveaway was run by my publisher, so I shall get on to them immediately and ask why you haven't been sent the book yet and get back to you as soon as possible.
Edoardo Albert History. While researching my non-fiction account of the history and archaeology of the kingdom of Northumbria, I learned of the stories of kings Edwin, Oswald and Oswiu, and thought at the time what an extraordinary story arc they made - surely someone must have written about them already. But nobody had. So I did!
Edoardo Albert Fear helps. And looking at my bank balance is the best way of inculcating the necessary fear.
Edoardo Albert Oswiu: King of Kings, the third and final volume of The Northumbrian Thrones trilogy.
Edoardo Albert Read. Then write. Write. Then read. Repeat.
Edoardo Albert Writing. Even if it's rubbish, just getting words down on paper or screen will, eventually, start the engine.
Edoardo Albert Poverty - it's good for the soul!
