UPDATE!
This was an error ... a complicated one, and all I can tell you is that it will get fixed "soon." (I'm not sure what that means.) Again, thanks for pointing it out. If I hear more specifics I'll let you know.
This appears to be an error - I'm chasing it with the Amazon people. You may be able to download to your UK Kindle directly from the US links at https://www.amazon.com/Richard-Farr/e..., but I'm not clear on that. If not, I hope to get it fixed soon. Thanks for letting me know.

Hi JJ!
Thanks for that "awesome" - I'll pin it on my cork board! In short: I wrote TFS because a lot of sci-fi thrillers are written around strange things happening in alternative worlds, and I think we have a real mystery in *this* world ("What is consciousness? Why does it exist? Where did it come from?") that's deeper and cooler than any of them.
Glad you liked it, and the good news is that the sequel, Ghosts in the Machine, is all done, and it will be out on Sept 20th. It will take you to a very strange place! Check out my website, www.richardfarr.net, where there's a link to the pre-order page. I hope you like it too - working on #3 now. All the best, Richard

Hi Jen!
Thanks for asking. The short answer is "No, not definite, not yet." The longer answer is that Ghosts in the Machine will definitely be out in 2016 - we just sorted out the cover, and I expect Skyscape to announce a date within the next month or so - but the fact that the date's not fixed yet is my fault entirely for taking so long to finish. (I was supposed to be done by May/June; six months later, I'm *almost* there but still sorting out some details.) Sorry I can't be more definite; I hope you'll find it's worth the wait!
All the best - Richard

You can find silly answer to this on my blog. A more sensible one is: I don't really get (intermittent) writer's block, just (continual) writer's inefficiency.

The sequel to The Fire Seekers. (And, in the background, a couple of other things. See my website.)

You have no boss. So it's all your own fault.

Every single morning, write 500 new words. Every single afternoon, pick 500 old words and rewrite them to make them easier to read and less boring.
Have I ever stuck to this advice myself? No. Is it still a good idea? Yes.

I think "getting inspired to write" is a very dangerous idea! I don't: I just sit down to write. (Or often, alas, sit down and fail to write.) You may love the process or not, but inspiration happens *after* you show up.

From a very strange book by Julian Jaynes called "The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind." It asks, and tries to answer, the questions "Where did consciousness come from?"
